Our campus rain garden - located by Hickok Hall and taking a quarter of the rainfall off the roof - apparently absorbed and infiltrated the entire rainfall without overflowing. It had been freshly mulched, so we would have seen mulch in the grass if it had overflowed. It works...
...for "flooding". Apparently Good Morning America was reporting flooding in CR this morning. There was some flash flooding, and the Cedar Rapids airport reports 4.19 inches between 7 PM and 1 AM last night (including 2.77 inches in 1 hour!). However, Indian Creek is generally still in its banks, and the students are out taking samples - always interesting after a big rain.
